First real post today. I figure I'll eventually come up with a planned method of attack for these things and I was also thinking about various types of sections to include in a blog. Current gambling odds on various teams, weekly picks, Simmons feedback, game reactions etc. I'm sure more will come, figured I'd write em down here first so I can remember.
To quote Jim Rome, here's what I'm burning on today.
1) Brett Favre??? Come on man, this is just getting rediculous. As a football fan I have a ton of respect for what he's done on the field in terms of toughness and leadership, as well as his passion for the game, but at this point he is looking like just another mercenary out to collect a paycheck. Where's the loyalty to the Pack? Minnesota??!! How about to football itself, how many times can one man retire before people stop caring? I still also haven't forgiven him or Desmond Howard for ruining the first Boston championship game I ever witnessed.
2) The red-sox streak ended at 5 the other night with an 11-5 loss to the Phils. I'm not a huge fan of interleague play, but it certainly is interesting to turn on the TV and watch Lester (who I love) stare and three straight strikes then calmly walk back to the dugout. More comedy than Chris Rock's last HBO special. Still, two game lead in the division and we're not even at the All-Star break, so there's about 30-40 more relatively meaningless games to be played.
3) Kobe. Kobe. Kobe. I think I'm going to be sick. Honestly, you can't turn on ESPN or hardly any other sports media these days without seeing that disguisting Lakers symbol on the box. I'm big fan of the zen master and certainly believe that he is at least on par with Big Red, but there's something about Kobe's personality that just drives me crazy. I think maybe it's his pretentiousness, or his now "reformed" selfish attitude. Maybe its the history of rape. I don't know. Now I have to listen to all the underhanded comments about how he is better than #23, and I don't mean Lebron. All this could have been avoided if only Garnett could have stayed healthy. Whhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhy????
4) Fantasy football season is 8 weeks away!
